Due to their excellent mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and ease of processing, carbon fiber and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics are finding wide application in diverse fields, including aerospace, industry, and automobiles. This research explores the feasibility of integrating carbon fiber solutions into the rotors of 85-kilowatt electric vehicle interior permanent magnet synchronous motors. Two novel configurations are proposed: a carbon fiber wire-wound rotor and a carbon fiber injection-molded rotor. A finite element analysis compares the performance of these models against a basic designed rotor, considering factors like no-load back electromotive force, noload voltage harmonics, cogging torque, load torque, torque ripple, efficiency, and manufacturing cost. Additionally, a comprehensive analysis of system efficiency and energy loss based on hypothetical electric vehicle parameters is presented. Finally, mechanical strength simulations assess the feasibility of the proposed carbon fiber composite rotor designs....
Ethanol as a renewable fuel has been applied in fuel vehicles (FVs), and it is promising in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). This work aims to investigate the emission characteristics of ethanol applied in both FVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The paper conducted a real-road test of an internal combustion FV and PHEV, respectively, based on the world light vehicle test cycle (WLTC) by using gasoline and regular gasoline under different temperature conditions. The use of E10 and E20 in FVs has been effective in reducing the conventional emissions of the vehicles. At 23 ◦C, E10 and E20 reduced the conventional emissions including carbon monoxide (CO), total hydrocarbon compound (THC), non-methane hydrocarbon compound (NMHC), particulate matter (PM), and particulate number (PN) by 15.40–31.11% and 11.00–44.13% respectively. At 6 ◦C, E10 and E20 reduced conventional emissions including THC, CO, and PM by 2.15–8.61% and 11.02–13.34%, respectively. However, nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions increased to varying degrees. The reduction trend of non-conventional emissions including methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2) from FVs fueled with E10 and E20 is not significant for vehicles. Overall, the emission reduction effect of E20 is better than that of E10, and the emission reduction effect of ethanol gasoline on vehicle emissions is reduced at low temperatures. Lower ambient temperatures increase vehicle emissions in the low-speed segment but decrease vehicle emissions in the ultra-highspeed segment. HEV emissions of THC, CO, PN, and PM are reduced by 25.28%, 12.72%, 77.34%, and 64.59%, respectively, for E20 compared to gasoline, and the use of E20 in HEVs contributes to the reduction of overall vehicle emissions....

This article aims to analyze the impact of climate change on vehicle engineering and propose corresponding strategies. Firstly, the research background and significance are introduced, and the current research status both domestically and internationally is analyzed. Following that, a comprehensive analysis is conducted on the impact of climate change on vehicle engineering, including the influence of current climate change on the development of vehicle engineering, the impact of low-carbon transportation on the development of vehicle engineering, and the influence of climate change on vehicle safety. Then, the role of vehicle engineering in responding to climate change is discussed in detail. Finally, development strategies for vehicle engineering are proposed, including the development of new energy vehicles, improvement of autonomous driving technology, and optimization of transportation policies. This study explains the impact of climate change on vehicle engineering and proposes strategies for long-term development....
This paper deals with the phenomenon of torsion oscillations in railway vehicle drive systems. The main goal is to reduce the risk of presence of torsional oscillations in wheelset drive, eventually to propose systems to effectively identify and eliminate torsional oscillations of wheelsets. Therefore, a simulation wheelset drive model including a detailed model of the asynchronous traction motor control was built. The results of computer simulations show that the torsional oscillations can be effectively eliminated by avoiding the resonance states between the excitation frequencies given by pulse width modulation of the inverter and the eigenfrequencies of the mechanical part of the drive. Furthermore, it was found that the presence of torsional oscillations of the wheels can be detected based on the traction motor current ripple. The wheelset drive model was subsequently implemented in a simulation model of a four-axle locomotive. A new algorithm of an anti-slip protection system that utilizes motor currents was implemented in the model. Simulations show that such an anti-slip protection system can prevent the occurrence of undesired large amplitude of wheelset torsional oscillations. The models and simulation results are presented in detail in the paper....
The customer value of vehicle characteristics is an evaluation method to evaluate the competitiveness of vehicle design from the benefits that vehicle characteristics bring to customers in actual operation. The key point of this evaluation method is to establish the calculation model of the characteristic value. Based on the customer’s actual operational analysis data, this paper establishes the value calculation model that transforms the characteristic value into the economic contribution of operating mileage; combined with the weight factor of customer-concerned characteristic, the comprehensive evaluation of customer value of vehicle characteristics is realized. Practical application demonstrates that the model can satisfy the value evaluation of the customer-concerned vehicle characteristic....
